Trick Mist - The Hedge Maze and The Spade (Limited Edition 12’’ Vinyl)

The second album from Trick Mist, the project of Cork-based songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist Gavin Murray, released September 2022 on Pizza Pizza Records. Written in the wake of the death of his 96-year-old grandmother, with whom he was remarkably close, it's an album about memory and imagination, digging through one relationship to find something universal. It landed on best Irish album of the year lists at The Thin Air and HeadStuff.

Built entirely at home in Cork from original samples, experimental electronics and gestures towards Irish traditional song, it's warmer and more meditative than his 2018 debut Both Ends, with Murray's baritone anchoring tracks like 'Flagbearer', 'Boring Bread' and 'Willingdon Island', the latter featuring Elaine Howley. Oddity and accessibility in rare harmony. Pressed on black 12" vinyl.
