A five-track EP from Belfast songwriter Naomi Hamilton, released on Hand In Hive and Canvasback. Hamilton began writing songs while studying English and Creative Writing at Queen's, and it shows: these are literary lyrics full of precise, evocative images, delivered over music that shifts from hushed folk to psych-rock urgency in fifteen brisk minutes. The single Plastic Skeletons is a travel diary of a first American trip, all palm trees, fire ants and journal fragments swept up in a swirling arrangement, and it sits alongside four re-recorded highlights from the 2016 debut Parma Violets, newly mixed by Ben Baptie (Young Fathers, Daughter, Lianne La Havas). A perfect entry point to one of the North's most distinctive songwriting voices.
