Wide Open, Horses is a candid, openhearted record about reclaiming your own story, a rebuilding of his sense of self and his connection to music after years of pressure and self-doubt. It leans back into the warm, sincere indie-folk of his earliest work while carrying everything he has learned since, lit by that unmistakable falsetto. The making of it was its own quiet experiment, McMorrow performing the songs live at Dublin's National Concert Hall before they were ever recorded, his young daughter Margot joining him on the tender "Give Up", and "Stay Cool" captured in a single take.
