Goldbug - Swings & Roundabouts (Vinyl - Limited Run)

Goldbug is the project of Irish/French artist Danilo Ward, also known as bassist with Dublin band of all living things. Raised in a religious commune in rural Provence and shaped by a childhood of constant uprooting, Ward makes music that mirrors that nomadic state: nine songs in perpetual motion, twisting and turning to unlikely places yet always purposeful. His debut was co-produced with Chris W Ryan (Just Mustard, NewDad, Chalk) and mastered by Heba Kadry (Björk, Big Thief, Sufjan Stevens).

The palette is gorgeous and strange in equal measure, blending art rock, post-rock, lo-fi electronics and neoclassical touches, with sweeping strings, dusty mellotrons, splashes of brass and Ward's soft, hazy voice drifting over it all. Singles 'Pendulum', 'Losing The Swing' and 'Blink' hint at the scope, but this is a record built to be taken whole, an escapist dream world that rewards surrender. Self-released in a limited run of just 100 copies on 12" vinyl.
