Released on Think Like A Key in 2022, this is the missing piece of the Strangelies discography: the lost radio recordings of Dublin's great psychedelic folk eccentrics, active from 1968 to 1971 and beloved for the two Joe Boyd-produced albums, Kip of the Serenes and Heavy Petting, that have long been collector holy grails. The band recorded just two BBC sessions in their heyday, a Top Gear slot and an In Concert, both hosted by John Peel, and the BBC wiped the tapes. After years of detective work among European collectors, off-air recordings of both were tracked down and painstakingly restored.
Alongside the Peel material sit short Dutch and Danish radio sessions taken from the original recordings, plus a Dublin rehearsal take of Sign On My Mind featuring a young Gary Moore, a friend of the band who guested on Heavy Petting. Compiled by Strangelies biographer Adrian Whittaker, with liner notes and previously unpublished Barrie Wentzell photos.
