Sentinel is the sixth album from Jape, the project of Richie Egan and the only artist ever to win the Choice Music Prize twice. Written in the liminal hush between dreaming and waking, before the inner critic stirs, it is his most intimate and reflective record. An indie-folk heart wrapped in drifting, experimental textures, the songs unhurried and unguarded, more concerned with depth than with hooks. Egan called it a private record, and there is a real sense of being let in close, the strings, breath and small imperfections left in rather than polished away. Pressed on a strictly limited run of black vinyl.
